Star Wars Galaxies In-Game Painting Contest

It's time to celebrate five amazing years of Star Wars Galaxies™! If you're a budding artist, this is your chance to leave a mark on the galaxy by creating an in-game painting.

We're looking for one Rebel-themed and one Imperial-themed image to add to the game as new in-game paintings.

Create custom art depicting your favorite scene in the game or base your entry around an in-game screenshot, send it to us, and we'll choose the best of the best as finalists that YOU get to vote on! The finalists will be presented to the community for a vote. The two images with the most votes will be added to the game as new paintings and provided to all players as an anniversary gift. The submission period begins on May 19, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. (PST) and concludes on June 6, 2008 at 11:59 P.M. (PST). Get those creative juices flowing now and send us your work of art!

Prizes

• The images created by the two Selected Contestants will be placed as in-game paintings. The details for those paintings, shown in the Examine window, will display the artist's character name and server name.
  
• The two winning paintings will be provided to all players in game as a part of the player rewards for the game's 5th anniversary.
  
• No out of game or "real world" prizes will be awarded.

Submission Guidelines

• The image must be based on characters, scenery, or items in the Star Wars Galaxies universe. Submissions depicting movie posters, likenesses of actors, or imagery depicting scenes from the Star Wars™ films will not be considered.
  
• Submitted images must be an original creation, except for elements from the Star Wars Galaxies game used in compliance with the Station Terms of Use and other rules and regulations of the Star Wars Galaxies web site. You may NOT use any materials that you do not own the rights to for the purposes of this contest. Likewise, taking an image from something that you do not own and altering it slightly then presenting it as your own work is strictly prohibited.
  
• Do not add a frame or border around the image.
  
• If you are capturing and submitting a screenshot, press CTRL+ALT+H to hide the interface. Submissions with a visible interface will not be considered.
  
• Entries must be JPG or BMP and either 512 pixels wide by 512 pixels tall, or 256 pixels wide by 512 pixels tall.
  
• Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, visual portrayal and overall presentation by a panel of judges, consisting of members of the Star Wars Galaxies Development, Community Relations, Marketing and Public Relations Teams.

Eligibility

• You must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and a legal resident of the 50 United States (including District of Columbia ) to participate.
  
• Only one (1) entry per natural person and Star Wars Galaxies account will be accepted.
  
• The Contestant must have an active Star Wars Galaxies account in good standing.
  
• By entering this contest, you agree to all of the terms and conditions in the Official Rules and Conditions, so please make sure you read them carefully!

How to Enter and Win
Send an email to swgcontests@soe.sony.com with the image attached. Only one image/entry allowed! Please put "Painting Contest Submission" in the subject header of your email. The body of your email message must include the following information:

• Your first and last name;
  
• Your age;
  
• Your postal mailing address (including street name, apartment number (if any), city, state, zip code and phone number; no P.O. Boxes will be accepted);
  
• Your e-mail address;
  
• Your Star Wars Galaxies forum community handle and Station account name;
  
• Your category for consideration: Rebel or Imperial?

Six finalists will be chosen by the Star Wars Galaxies team and placed into a voting poll at StarWarsGalaxies.com on June 23, 2008.

The community will vote and the Rebel and Imperial paintings with the most votes will be the Selected Contestants.
